1-on-1 Leathercraft Workshop: Leather Keychain
Slow down and make something with your hands.
This private, one-on-one leathercraft workshop in Miami Beach takes you from the hide to a finished, heavy-duty leather keychain in two and a half hours at the bench. No experience needed — most people who book have never touched a leather tool.
Factory-finished vegetable-tanned leather, solid brass or nickel-plated hardware, full use of professional studio tools and safety equipment, and refreshments are all included. Bring photo ID and nothing else.
Classes are limited to participants 18 and over due to the cutting tools, hot equipment, and chemical finishes used at the bench. Please bring government-issued photo ID.
What you'll make
A solid leather keychain with a brass or nickel-plated ring — you pick at the bench — burnished edges, and your own initials stamped into the leather. Yours to take home the same day.

The keychain is the shortest route to the four operations underneath nearly everything made from flat leather: selecting and cutting, working an edge to a finished burnish, setting solid hardware, and stamping. Those same steps produce bag charms, zipper pulls, luggage tags, bookmarks, and simple straps.
You'll leave with a finished keychain — and the fundamentals every other project is built on.

I'm Mikhail. I run the studio, and I teach every class myself — one student at a time, at the same bench where I make everything else.
I'm self-taught, which means I know exactly where beginners get stuck. Nothing here assumes you've held a leather tool before.

A private studio, not a storefront
Deco Leather Studio is a dedicated leatherworking workspace inside a private residence in South Beach. It's a working bench — heavy-duty worktable, wall-mounted tool racks, and professional equipment — set up for one student at a time. That's why classes run private and unhurried, and why the studio takes no walk-ins.
What to expect when you arrive
You'll receive the exact address and arrival instructions once your class is paid for. You'll be met at the door and shown straight to the bench, where your waiver is confirmed and your photo ID checked. Before any cutting starts, you'll go through the tools and safety basics and talk through your design — water and refreshments are available throughout.
Getting here
The studio is in South Beach, close to Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive. One assigned parking space is available on site, and a temporary City of Miami Beach guest permit can be arranged if you need longer parking.

Do I need any experience?–
No. Every class at Deco Leather Studio is designed for complete beginners, and most people who book have never picked up a leather tool. Because classes are private, instruction adjusts to your level — experienced makers are welcome too.
Are classes private?+
All classes at Deco Leather Studio are one-on-one, a single student per class. You get undivided instruction and the class moves entirely at your pace.
Do you teach in any language other than English?+
Classes run in English or Russian, whichever you prefer. Mention it in your booking request, or just say so when you arrive — classes are one student at a time, so it takes no arranging. The booking form, payment pages, and participant waiver are in English only.

Is there an age requirement?+
Yes. All classes at Deco Leather Studio are limited to participants 18 years and older. Classes involve cutting tools, hot equipment, and chemical finishes, so for safety and insurance reasons we cannot accommodate minors — including when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Valid government-issued photo ID is required and checked on arrival.
Do I need to sign anything?+
Yes. Every participant completes a short participant waiver before starting at the bench. The link is in your confirmation email and it takes about three minutes. It asks for your date of birth, an emergency contact, and any allergies or medical conditions I should know about.
What should I wear?+
Wear something you don't mind marking — leather dyes and adhesives can permanently stain fabric. Fitted clothing works best at the bench, and closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended.
Can I reschedule?+
Yes — up to 24 hours before your start time, by emailing info@decoleatherstudio.com or replying to your confirmation. Rescheduling is limited to one change per booking, the new class must fall within 90 days of your original date, and your payment carries over.
What's your cancellation policy?+
Cancel 48 hours or more before your start time for a full refund or studio credit valid for 12 months. Within 48 hours, and for no-shows, the class isn't refundable, because bench time is reserved exclusively for you and materials are prepared in advance.
One exception: if you book less than 48 hours ahead, you can cancel within one hour of paying for a full refund. Email info@decoleatherstudio.com.
If you rescheduled, refund eligibility is calculated from your originally booked class time, not the new date.

Send a booking request with the class you'd like and two or three dates and times that work for you. I'll reply with a confirmed time and a payment link. Your class is booked once it's paid, and there's nothing to pay at the studio.
