Before your session
Do I need to sign anything?
Yes. Every participant completes a short participant waiver before starting at the bench. The link is in your confirmation email and it takes about three minutes. It asks for your date of birth, an emergency contact, and any allergies or medical conditions we should know about.
What should I expect when I arrive?
You'll be met at the door and shown straight to the bench. The studio is a dedicated workspace with a single work station set up for your session. Before starting, we'll confirm your waiver, run through the tools you'll be using and the safety basics, then talk through your design. From there it's hands-on for the rest of the session. Water and refreshments are available throughout.
Where is the studio?
Deco Leather Studio is located in the South Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach, Florida. It's a private, fully equipped workspace with a heavy-duty workbench, custom tool racks, and professional leather equipment — set up as a quiet environment for focused, hands-on instruction. The exact address and arrival instructions are sent immediately after booking.
Is parking available?
Yes — one assigned private space is available on site. If you need extended parking, a temporary South Beach residential guest permit can be arranged through the City of Miami Beach for up to 24 hours. We'd need your vehicle's license plate number before you arrive, which we submit to the city to register the permit.
What should I wear?
Wear something you don't mind marking — leather dyes and adhesives can permanently stain fabric. Fitted clothing works best at the bench, and closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended.
Do I need to bring anything?
Just government-issued photo ID. Everything else is provided: leather, hardware, all hand tools, safety equipment, and refreshments.
I have an allergy. Can you accommodate it?
Note it on your participant waiver and we'll do what we reasonably can. Be aware that all sessions involve leather dust, vegetable-tanned hides, dyes, adhesives, and finishing compounds, and we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
Changes & cancellations
Can I reschedule?
Yes — up to 24 hours before your start time, using the self-service link in your confirmation email. Rescheduling is limited to one change per booking, and the new session must fall within 90 days of your original date.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel 48 hours or more before your start time for a full refund or studio credit. Within 48 hours, bookings are non-refundable — bench time is reserved exclusively for you and materials are cut and prepared in advance.
If you rescheduled, refund eligibility is calculated from your originally booked session time, not the new date.
I booked last minute and something came up.
If you booked less than 48 hours before your session, you can cancel within one hour of booking for a full refund — just reply to your confirmation email. After that hour, the booking is non-refundable.
Can I send someone else in my place?
Yes, at no charge, up to 24 hours before the session. Email info@decoleatherstudio.com with their full name and email address. The substitute participant must be 18 or older and complete the participant waiver before arriving.
What if I'm running late?
Sessions begin at the scheduled time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late the class still runs, but it will be shorter and full tuition applies. Arrivals more than 30 minutes late are treated as no-shows.
What if you have to cancel?
If Deco Leather Studio cancels for any reason — severe weather, instructor illness, equipment failure — you choose between a full refund or priority rescheduling into any open session at no additional cost.
