What you'll make
A custom-fitted leather cuff or strap bracelet in vegetable-tanned leather, with solid brass or nickel-plated hardware - you pick at the bench, hand-burnished edges, and your initials stamped in. Sized to your wrist, finished and worn out the door.
-
What you'll learn
- Precision strap cutting and sizing to your own measurements
- Edge beveling and burnishing to a smooth, finished edge
- Installing solid hardware
- Hand-stamping custom lettering
What these skills unlock
The bracelet is a small piece, but the sequence behind it is the same one used to make almost any leather strap good. Cut to width, bevel and burnish the edges, punch, set hardware, stamp. Change the dimensions and that's a belt. Change the hardware and it's a watch strap, a dog collar, a guitar strap, or a luggage tag. You'll leave with a finished bracelet — and a process you can repeat at any scale.
Who's teaching?
Classes are taught by Mikhail, who runs the studio. Every session is one-on-one with the same person who works the bench day to day — not a rotating roster of part-time instructors. You're learning the techniques used to make real goods, on real equipment.
The Studio
-
A private studio, not a storefront
Deco Leather Studio is a dedicated leatherworking workspace inside a private residence in South Beach. It's a working bench — heavy-duty worktable, wall-mounted tool racks, and professional equipment — set up for one student at a time. That's why sessions run private and unhurried, and why the studio takes no walk-ins.

What to expect when you arrive
You'll receive the exact address and arrival instructions as soon as you book. You'll be met at the door and shown straight to the bench, where your waiver is confirmed and your photo ID checked. Before any cutting starts, you'll go through the tools and safety basics and talk through your design — water and refreshments are available throughout.

Getting here
The studio is in South Beach, close to Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive. One assigned parking space is available on site, and a temporary City of Miami Beach guest permit can be arranged if you need longer parking.
Helpful to know
Do I need any experience?
No. Every class at Deco Leather Studio is designed for complete beginners, and most people who book have never picked up a leather tool. Because sessions are private, instruction adjusts to your level — experienced makers are welcome too.
Are classes private or group sessions?
All classes at Deco Leather Studio are currently one-on-one — a single student per session. You get undivided instruction and the session moves entirely at your pace.
Do you teach in any language other than English?
Classes run in English or Russian, whichever you prefer. Tell me which when you book, or just mention it when you arrive — sessions are one student at a time, so it takes no arranging. The website, checkout, and participant waiver are in English only.
Индивидуальные занятия по работе с кожей в Майами-Бич проводятся на английском и русском языке. Сайт, оплата и документы — только на английском.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. All classes at Deco Leather Studio are limited to participants 18 years and older. Sessions involve cutting tools, hot equipment, and chemical finishes, so for safety and insurance reasons we cannot accommodate minors — including when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Valid government-issued photo ID is required and checked on arrival.
Do I need to sign anything?
Yes. Every participant completes a short participant waiver before starting at the bench. The link is in your confirmation email and it takes about three minutes. It asks for your date of birth, an emergency contact, and any allergies or medical conditions we should know about.
What should I wear?
Wear something you don't mind marking — leather dyes and adhesives can permanently stain fabric. Fitted clothing works best at the bench, and closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended.
Can I reschedule?
Yes — up to 24 hours before your start time, using the self-service link in your confirmation email. Rescheduling is limited to one change per booking, and the new session must fall within 90 days of your original date.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel 48 hours or more before your start time for a full refund or studio credit. Within 48 hours, bookings are non-refundable — bench time is reserved exclusively for you and materials are cut and prepared in advance.
If you rescheduled, refund eligibility is calculated from your originally booked session time, not the new date.
